Uses: Sterling silver is used for jewelry, silverware, etc. Silver is used in making electrical contacts, and high capacity silver-zinc and silver-cadmium batteries. It is used in mirrors. When freshly placed, it is the best reflector of visible light known, but it rapidly tarnishes and loses much of its reflectance. Silver iodide (compound 1) is used to seed clouds to produce rain. Silver nitrate, the most important silver compound, is used extensively in photography. Silver has been used for centuries for making coins in many countries of the world.
